Anthologies

I co-run a writing group called the Oxford Writing Circle, and we have published four anthologies of short stories since 2017. I have been on the editorial team for all four of these, and have had stories published in three (Transformations, Love with a Twist, and Oxford’s Haunted).

Each anthology is themed and open to submissions from both members of the Writing Circle and the wider public. I worked closely with several authors in the anthologies to bring out the best in their stories, and to improve their writing.

Stories of transformation and metamorphosis. Some magical, some ordinary. The range of genre in this anthology makes each story feel wholly unique.

This theme attracted a really wide range of stories. When we chose it we anticipated receiving a lot of travel literature, but we had science fiction, romance, and stories about life and death.

This anthology was timed to be released around Valentine’s Day, and our only stipulation in the brief was that there had to be some kind of twist. I worked with a several authors to sharpen those endings up to their greatest impact.

Our Halloween anthology! This was one of the most fun to work on. We had every kind of spooky story submitted to us, from gently chilling to nightmare-inducing.
